A Community of Student Artists Proudly Serving Grades 6 through 12

Beacon Charter Schools, located in historic Monument Square in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, currently serves 375 student artists from nineteen cities and towns across Rhode Island.

Beacon Charter High School for the Arts opened in 2003 to Bring Educational Alternatives to the Community through Occupational Nurturing.  The school has a rich, decade and a half history of academic and artistic excellence

Founders Academy, Beacon’s middle school program, opening in 2015 to focus on strengthening students’ core academic skills while introducing them to Beacon’s three cornerstone arts programs.  Upon completion of grade 8 at Founders, students are promoted to grade 9 at Beacon.

Admission to all grades is made through blind lottery, held each year on March 1st.  Families are highly encouraged to apply in grade 6 to ensure the best possible chances of admission to our schools.
