March 13th 2020 – COVID-19 VIRUS UPDATE: Governor Raimondo announced that schools will be closed next week 3/16-3/20 for an early Spring Break, taking the place of our previously scheduled April Vacation.

This will give time for schools to submit plans for online learning to potentially be used for the following week, if schools are to remain closed. A formal letter will be emailed home to all families following a conference call with the Department of Education later this afternoon. Please refer to that for more information and check your email regularly for more updates.

Beacon Charter High School for the Arts opened in 2003 to Bring Educational Alternatives to the Community through Occupational Nurturing.  The school has a rich, decade and a half history of academic and artistic excellence

Founders Academy, Beacon’s middle school program, opened in 2015 to focus on strengthening students’ core academic skills while introducing them to Beacon’s three cornerstone arts programs.  Upon completion of grade 8 at Founders, students are promoted to grade 9 at Beacon.

Admission to all grades is made through blind lottery, held each year on March 1st.  Families are highly encouraged to apply in grade 6 to ensure the best possible chances of admission to our schools.
