2010/2011
is Beacon's eighth year in operation and our goals are larger
than ever!
This
is our second year where the enrollment is at capacity. In
fact, we have more students than ever as enrollment hovers
in the low 230's!
Last
year Beacon outperformed the state in NECAP tests in reading,
writing, algebra and geometry. Our performance in the reading
NECAP test is now legendary as no other charter school in
RI has ever been the top performing district in the state.
Our 98% rate in meeting the standard was only beaten by Classical
High School's 99%. Imagine that, a small arts based charter
school in Woonsocket has rivaled the capitol city's Classical
High! Academics continues to be a greater and greater focus
of the administration and faculty as we have added more capacity
to the math, science and reading departments.
In
2010 we were awarded by the RI Dept. of Health as their Community
Partnership Award winner. This was a great acknowledgement
for us. Additionally, Beacon was the Technical Theater award
winner at 2010 Dramafest and the US News and World Report's
Bronze medals for being on the "Best of US High Schools"
list for 2008 and 2009 are still great achievements.
Our
students continue to apply to and gain acceptance to top colleges

Even
though enrollment is at an all time high, we're still taking
applications.
The applications for enrollment are available in the Apply
section of this site. Links to all teacher e-mail addresses
are available in the Faculty Contact
section in order for parents to achieve easier communication
with their child's teachers.

The Beacon Charter School offers a unique and exciting education
