Requests for Admission
Beacon consists of two public charter schools, Founders Academy and Beacon Charter High School for the Arts. Our schools are open to students in sixth through twelfth grade from any community in Rhode Island. By Rhode Island law and regulations from the Rhode Island Department of Education, students are admitted to Beacon by lottery. This lottery determines which applicants are enrolled the following school year. Generally, Beacon has up to 54 slots in 6th grade, approximately 10 to 15 in grade 9 and zero to 10 openings in grades 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12. Applicants who are not selected for open seats are placed on our waiting list. Should an opening become available, those applicants will be contacted in order.

Applications are available through the statewide charter application portal, EnrollRI.
***All applications for 2024-2025 received after Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at 5pm will be placed on the bottom of the waitlist for that grade***

Lottery for 2024-2025
The lottery will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024. APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER March 14, 2024 WILL BE PLACED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WAITING LIST AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE LOTTERY. This includes applications for siblings of current Founders or Beacon students, and children of active staff members.

Where to locate your Application ID:
Application ID numbers were provided in your EnrollRI application confirmation email. If you do not have a copy of the confirmation email, ID numbers can be found on the EnrollRI platform:
Step 1: Log into the EnrollRI platform.
Step 2: On the Home screen, locate the "My Students" section.
Step 3: Click the link for the application summary.
Step 4: Application ID numbers can be found above your student's name.
