Beacon is a public charter school open to students in 9th grade through twelfth grade from any community in Rhode Island. By Rhode Island Law and regulations from the Rhode Island Department of Education, students are admitted to Beacon by lottery. This lottery determines which applicants are enrolled the following school year. Generally, Beacon has up to 60 slots available in 9th grade, 45 in 6th grade, and zero to 10 openings in the other grades. Applicants who are not selected for open seats are placed on our waiting list. Should an opening become available, those applicants will be contacted in order.
Prior to the lottery, it is highly recommended that you take a tour of the school and/or take advantage of our open house.Beacon and Founders both held at 320 Main St.:
Founders open house for grades 6-8 is at 6pm on the dates above, and Beacon open house for grades 9-12 is at 6:30pm.
The lottery takes place on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Therefore, all applications must be received by February 28th, 2017 at 4pm. All families will be notified of the results of the lottery by mail.
