Beacon Charter Schools is governed by a passionate Board of Directors, strongly committed to upholding the mission and pursuing the vision of our schools.
Amy Bergeron, Chair
Amy Bergeron has been a member of the Board for since 2014. She has served as the Chair since September 2017. When she joined the Board, Amy had two children attending Beacon. They have both since graduated. Her son attends Boston University and her daughter is at Emerson College. When Amy was approached to join the board, she was excited to learn more about the school and how the board works. Now, as Chair, she looks forward to continuing to make Beacon schools strong and make the Founders’ students’ transition to high school as smooth as possible.
In her professional life, Amy is a math teacher at the Grace School at Meeting Street in Providence where she shares her love of math with fifth through eighth graders. When she is not working or learning the ins and outs of Beacon, she can be found with her family, Tim, TJ, and Keaton, along with her dog, Remy. She enjoys traveling with the crew and spending any time she can with them.

Amanda LaRose, Treasurer
Amanda LaRose joined the board in August 2016 and was voted Treasurer a year later. Currently she is the Branch Manager at Navigant Credit Union in Woonsocket, RI. She hopes to bring her energy and enthusiasm for helping kids grow and learn and succeed.
She joined the board to give back to the community and to help Beacon become a school that other charters and schools look to with admiration.
When she’s not working, she loves spending time with her daughter Charlotte and husband Jay. They love teaching their daughter new things and letting her help them with cooking and responsibilities around the house. They love to be a family and spend time playing outside as much as they can.
Laura Nottie, Secretary
Melinda Acosta was Manager of Family Services and Aquatics for 10 years at the Pawtucket YMCA. For the past fifteen years, she has been home taking care of her two boys.
